Ferries
The Island of Elba is reachable in one hour by ferry from Piombino Port, served by four ferry companies:
Toremar, Moby Lines, Blu Navy, Corsica Ferries.
These ferries connect to the ports of Portoferraio, Rio Marina, and Cavo.
Alternatively, a high-speed hydrofoil service is available for passenger-only transport, reaching Portoferraio in just 30 minutes with a stop at Cavo.
By Car
From the North:
From Milan: Take the A1 motorway, then switch at Parma Ovest onto the A15 to reach the A12 Genoa-Livorno. Exit at Rosignano, continue on SS Aurelia to Venturina-Isola d’Elba, and follow signs to Piombino Marittima.
From the Northeast:
From Bologna: Take the A1 Bologna-Florence-Pisa-Livorno motorway. Exit at Rosignano, continue on SS Aurelia to Venturina-Isola d’Elba, then head to Piombino Marittima.
Alternatively, take the SGC Florence-Pisa-Livorno route: exit at Firenze Signa, follow SS to Collesalvetti, rejoin the motorway until Rosignano Marittima, then take the expressway to Venturina-Isola d’Elba, continuing to Piombino Marittima.
From the South:
From Rome: Take the A12 Rome-Grosseto motorway, then follow SS Aurelia, exit at Venturina-Isola d’Elba, and continue to Piombino Marittima.
By Train
The closest train station to reach Elba is Piombino Marittima.

By Bus
During the summer season, Piombino Port is connected to Milan, Florence, and Grosseto via regular bus services.
