The Island on foot
Nestled in the heart of the Island of Elba, our campsite is the ideal destination for those who love adventure and outdoor sports. Here you will find not only a comfortable base for your stay but also a privileged starting point to explore the wonderful Elban landscape, rich in trails, breathtaking views, and adrenaline-filled challenges.
The Island of Elba is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, making it a paradise for trekking enthusiasts. With a vast network of trails, you can immerse yourself in the Mediterranean scrub and reach panoramic points from which to admire the crystal-clear sea and the other islands of the Tuscan Archipelago.
n addition to its scenic beauty, the trails lead to historical sites such as ancient fortresses, abandoned mines, and historic villages, making every trekking experience a journey through nature and history.

FOR EXPERT HIKERS
THE GREAT ELBAN TRAVERSE (GTE)
One of the most fascinating routes for trekking and mountain biking enthusiasts is the Great Elban Traverse (GTE), an itinerary that crosses the entire island.
Walking or cycling along this route means fully immersing yourself in nature, admiring breathtaking views that range between the sea and mountains.
Starting from our campsite, you can easily reach one of the GTE access points and experience an adventure that will lead you to discover the many facets of Elba: the Mediterranean scrub, lush forests, panoramic ridges, and picturesque villages.
THE VOLTERRAIO CASTLE
Among the must-see destinations during your stay is the Volterraio Castle, a medieval fortress perched on a hill dominating the surrounding landscape.
Reaching it is a unique experience: a scenic trail of about two hours will lead you through the wild nature to the summit, offering a spectacular view over the entire island and the surrounding sea.
The walk to the castle is a journey through time and beauty, where silence and contact with nature accompany you every step of the way.
Difficulty level: medium, for trained trekkers.


SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE
CARMIGNANI WALK AND TERRANERA LAKE
Starting from our campsite, you can enjoy a nature walk even if you are not an experienced hiker.
If you want to try reaching Porto Azzurro on foot, the Carmignani Walk is perfect for you: a route that winds through Barbarossa Beach and a 3 km coastal trail of easy difficulty.
Heading in the opposite direction from Reale Beach, you can reach Terranera Lake, famous for its incredible emerald green color, via a panoramic trail of medium difficulty, about 1 km long.
Monte Capanne
The highest peak on Elba (1,019 meters), located in the western part of the island. You can reach it on foot via trekking trails or by taking the convenient Cableway from Marciana, which reaches the summit in just 18 minutes.
From the top, the view extends over the entire Tuscan Archipelago and, on clear days, even as far as Corsica.
Cable Car Opening Hours
April, May, and October: Open daily, non-stop from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
June, July, August, and September: Open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.


MONSERRATO SANCTUARY
For those seeking a more intimate and spiritual experience, we recommend visiting the Monserrato Sanctuary, a peaceful place nestled among the hills.
Built in the 17th century, the sanctuary offers a unique atmosphere, perfect for a moment of reflection or simply to enjoy the tranquility of the place.
The path leading to the sanctuary is an enchanting walk, surrounded by nature and enriched by panoramic views that will remain etched in your memory.
Easy to walk, it is also suitable for families.
Guided Hikes
Camping Reale collaborates with Environmental Hiking Guide Silvia Cervini, who, with passion and deep knowledge of the territory, will accompany you on foot through your adventures on Elba.
Thanks to the guide’s presence, hikers can deepen their knowledge of local flora, fauna, and geology, experiencing an authentic and engaging adventure in close contact with nature.
